Anaerobic Digestion(AD) and the production of Bio-methane are growing at a huge pace to provide a solution to the world’s power needs.

This growth doesn’t come without potential damage to the environment and whilst the production of gas from waste makes huge commercial and environmental sense these positives are counterbalanced by negatives.

Imagine though being able to reduce the Ammonia(NH3) levels in your digester and digestate and being able to improve your methane product as well by up to 30%.

The reduction in Ammonia will not only improve your methane production but will also inhibit the environment for Hydrogen Sulfide(H2S)thus reducing the need for harsh chemicals and also reducing your maintenance costs on your CHP system.

We also need to remember one of the biggest issues identified by the UK government as part of their Green gas initiative is the output of Ammonia from the AD process stating

‘Mitigating environmental impacts from AD is important for a variety of reasons relating to human health and the environment. Ammonia emissions contribute to air pollution because they can convert into particulate matter which is the most damaging to human health’

‘Ammonia emissions also damage the environment, reducing biodiversity in sensitive habitats from leaching nutrients in the digestate’

Here at Environmental Enzymes, we are addressing this issue with Active-Bio² a unique super enzyme that not only helps to protect the environment by reducing the Ammonia levels in the digestate but also enhances the methane production from the digester ensuring the maximum efficiency of the feedstocks.
